Christian Horse People

I first learned about the connection between our relationship with horses and our relationship to God, when I read trainer John Lyon's magazine, many years ago. Then I heard Lew Starrett's Sermon on the Mount, which made it even more clear. Over the years I've learned there are other Christians who are experiencing the same insights and sharing them with others. I encourage you to support the following people who are involved in various equine ministries.

Christian Horse Ministries, Speakers, Trainers

Lynn Baber, Author, Texas
Lynn's focus is on relationships, "Nothing in life is truly meaningful if not connected in some way to a relationship. The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives."

Rebekah L. Holt's website, Equest4Truth, is full of interesting equine information and presents a solid creationist view of the origin of the horse as well as information about horses, donkeys and mules in the bible, and much more!

Paul Daily, Wild Horse Ministries, Louisiana
Paul Daily is the founder of Wild Horse Ministries. Because of the training techniques he utilizes, he is sometimes called a "horse whisperer."

Steve Edwards, Mule Trainer, Pastor, Arizona

Bethany's Gait, Inc., California

Elaine Averill, Unbridled Faith, Equine Assisted Learning

Horse Rescues

Lost Acres Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation, Ohio
After eight years as a veterinary assistant, Sissy Burggraf became painfully aware of the overwhelming amount of abuse and neglect found in the world of horses. She decided to do what she could to save as many "Champions" as she could. In 1994 she founded Lost Acres Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation (LAHRR), a non-profit organization for abused, neglected, severely injured, or blind horses.

Steve Edwards, Mule Trainer, Pastor - Cowboy Christian Ministries

steve-edwardsGoing through life ups and downs, Steve went to hear his brother Paul give his testimony of his new life in Christ. Steve says that people in the church came up to him asking where he went to church. Steve told them he didn’t need church; his church was the desert and the mountains. Folks in the church said they would start praying for him. In 1982 Steve and Susan heard a message about salvation. Steve says he couldn’t believe it (salvation) was free (Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.). Steve had a hard time believing the whole Bible was written to show the way to our Creator.

Steve had a 5th grade reading level when he graduated from high school. When he began reading the Bible, Susan and their kids did the reading. Steve claimed the verse James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” This is part of Steve’s daily prayer.  In 1992 the church Steve was attending called him into the ministry. Steve was ordained through Hi-Way Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist church.  Steve holds cowboy church every time he has a clinic for training mules and does most of this preaching from the saddle on a mule.

Steve is located in Queen Valley Arizona and is one of the leading authorities on mule training. Steve has been featured on RFD TV and at expos such as Equine Affaire, Equifest, Ride The West Hoosier Horse Fair, MHC Horse Expo Mane Event, and Festival of the Horse. Paul Daily, Wild Horse Ministries, Louisiana

wildhorseministries1Paul Daily is the founder of Wild Horse Ministries. Because of the training techniques he utilizes, he is sometimes called a "horse whisperer." Paul has loved and worked with horses all his life. Early in 1997 Paul was in the round pen working with a horse, when the Lord inspired or called him to take the lessons the horse was learning in the round pen and relate them to man's life lessons with Jesus Christ. Thus was born Wild Horse Ministries.

During the first three years, demonstrations were given before almost 15,000 people in Louisiana and Texas. This non-denominational ministry was taken to churches, fairs, prisons and "anywhere they were invited". In May of 2000 Paul became a full-time horse trainer for the Lord.

Paul does not "break horses", he "gentles" them, with words and pats, until they let him bridle, saddle and ride them - all within two hours. Occasionally, Paul can get the horse to totally submit by lying down. Paul says the Lord has given him this ability and is using him to reach people who shy away from organized religion and church. As the horse submits to Paul's ministrations, people submit to God's. "We have witnessed individual lives being changed because of their willingness to submit to Jesus Christ," says Paul.
