What is black and white and ridden all over?
It's Ebony! Ebony is a 47" black and white pony that thinks she is 15.2 hands. Ebony is the most trustworthy equine we have. She is extremely sensible and predictable. She is excellent on trails. A neighbor called me a "fool" when I bought her, but she has turned out to be a wonderful addition to our "family". She has taught all three of my daughters to ride. She is gaited, when she's in the right mood, and is a delightful pony to ride. Ebony was born in 1986.
Ginger's claim to fame is her retrieving trick.
Clicker training works wonders. That is how I taught her to retrieve the orange cone shown in the picture. She likes to show off her trick - and receive a tasty treat for doing it!
Ginger is a Missouri Foxtrotter, born in 1986. She is the boss mare of our herd. She has a very smooth, natural gait and loves to go trail riding. She can be a little moody, but on her good days, she's a dream!
“Oooh There's a Barbie horse!”
That's what all the little girls at the fair would say as they passed by Maggie's stall. We think it kind of went to her head a bit. She's never been quite the same since she learned she's a "Barbie horse".
Maggie is an unregistered Quarter horse. She's technically a pony, at 14.1 hands. Maggie is a close second to Ebony for calmness. She is the one that we put beginning adult riders on. Maggie will go down the trail, the road, or in a parade and not be phased by anything going on around her. Maggie is at the bottom of the pecking order, with Ebony. She was born in 1986
Sunset's Satin Doll
Satin is our largest horse at 15.1 hands, which is not really tall for a horse. She is a registered Racking Horse, born on July 4, 1992.
When we bought Satin, we were looking for a very calm, gaited trail horse. She was advertised as a "1" in temperament - the calmest, but so far she hasn't lived up to the advertising! My middle daughter enjoys riding her, but we haven't trusted other people on her yet. She seems to have been abused by someone in the past, so she is still overcoming some fears.
She is a beautiful horse and very flashy when she is gaiting. Satin was in foal when we purchased her. She had a filly, Keziah's Jubilee, in 2002.
