Default Diving Horses

Read Julie's article on Diving Horses and then give your opinion about the practice here.

Was it too dangerous for horses and/or riders? Should it have been outlawed? Any other thoughts or comments?

it is very dangerous. but i think it should b allowed as long as the horse and the rider are both well-trained and there is no abuse going on.

Weird what people think up. Anyway, I would say it's dangerous and kind of weird. But it's no more dangerous than jumping, barrel racing, horse racing, and any other thing you can think up. I agree with naturegirl, it's fine as long as no abuse is going on.

I agree. I could never imagine thinking of doing that myself or asking a horse to do it. I can't believe a horse would do it in the first place. After the first time they jump, they have to know what's coming. I don't think some horses would get anywhere near that ramp.

I'm not one for having the government interfere in everything though. If the horse and riders were doing it willingly, I guess it was okay. I still can't imagine anyone loving to do that.

Not that comparing something and saying it's not as bad as something else makes it right, but I hate to see Thoroughbreds started as yearlings when they are not even fully developed physically, with the potential to suffer serious injuries in a brief racing career - all for money. Then they are scrapped when they aren't making money any more.

Agreed, as long as no abuse and horses do it willingly.

I watched the movie and enjoyed it. I think that as longas the Horses are not forced to jump and are not abused it is permissable to do thing like diving.
